Founded in Paris in 2012 by Armand Thiberge as a cheaper European alternative to the American newsletter giants. It started with email campaigns and grew into SMS, chat, light CRM and automation flows — a suite aimed at small businesses rather than developers.
The 2023 rename to Brevo was meant to mark the move from a plain email tool to a broader customer platform. One of the few sizeable European options in a niche otherwise dominated by Mailchimp.
