Integration platform (iPaaS)
Owner
Francisco Partners, TPG (Dell 2010–2021)

A cloud integration platform that wires apps and data together through drag-and-drop instead of hand-written glue code.

Boomi was founded in 2000 and was early to the idea that integration — the thankless work of making one system talk to another — could live in the cloud. Its AtomSphere platform lets you draw flows visually and run them on lightweight runtimes called Atoms, which can sit in the cloud or behind a company's firewall.

Dell bought Boomi in 2010 as a cloud play but sold it on in 2021 to private-equity firms Francisco Partners and TPG for around $4 billion. It now lives on as the standalone company Boomi.
