Known for
Mimikatz, Kekeo

French programmer who wrote Mimikatz as a side project and in doing so changed how Windows networks get defended.

He started what became Mimikatz in 2007, mostly to learn C and poke at Windows internals. The tool showed that plaintext passwords were sitting in LSASS memory, and when Microsoft shrugged he released it publicly in 2011. That eventually pushed Microsoft to change defaults, WDigest among them.

With Vincent Le Toux he later added DCSync and DCShadow, and he wrote the Kerberos toolkit Kekeo. Mimikatz now ships inside practically every attack framework, and every EDR product hunts for it — with mixed success.
