Microsoft's serverless FaaS. Launched 2016, Microsoft's answer to AWS Lambda. Supports C#, JavaScript, Python, Java, PowerShell, TypeScript.
Triggers + bindings = serverless functions listen to Azure events (Queue, EventHub, Cosmos DB change feed) without boilerplate. Pricing: Consumption (pay-per-invocation), Premium (pre-warmed instances), Dedicated (App Service plan). Durable Functions are different — orchestration that looks like imperative code but runs stateful. Competitor: AWS Lambda (mainstream leader), Cloud Functions (Google), Cloudflare Workers (edge), Vercel Functions.
