A security operations centre on subscription: the company supplies the analysts the customer was never going to find time to hire.
Arctic Wolf was founded in 2012 and is headquartered in Minnesota. The model is managed detection and response: the customer deploys sensors and agents, Arctic Wolf pulls the logs into its own SIEM-style platform, and a named team of analysts watches them. In effect, an outsourced SOC for mid-sized companies.
It has grown quickly, and in early 2025 bought the antivirus pioneer Cylance from BlackBerry for a fraction of what BlackBerry had paid. That says something about where the market has gone: the agent itself is a commodity, and what is actually being sold is the people reading the alerts.
