A Chinese accessories brand that built an empire on chargers, power banks and cables — categories most others treated as an afterthought.

Anker was founded in 2011 in Shenzhen by Steven Yang, a former Google engineer who had seen how poor third-party chargers were and started out selling replacement laptop batteries on Amazon. The company built its reputation on exactly that: reliable chargers, power banks and USB-C cables, sold almost entirely direct through online retail.

Early use of GaN transistors gave it small, powerful wall chargers and helped Anker take the lead in a category with no strong brand. The group now runs several of its own: Soundcore (audio), Eufy (smart home and cameras) and Nebula (projectors).
