Andy Müller-Maguhn
German hacker, long-time spokesperson for the Chaos Computer Club, elected to ICANN's board in 2000 as Europe's at-large director.
Müller-Maguhn joined the Chaos Computer Club as a teenager in the 1980s and became one of its most visible faces in the 1990s. In 2000 ICANN tried an experiment in global online democracy — direct elections for five at-large board seats — and Müller-Maguhn won the European one. Having a hacker club's spokesperson on the board of the internet's naming system turned out to be about as messy as ICANN had feared, and the experiment was never repeated.
He is associated with the Wau Holland Foundation, named after the club's founder Wau Holland, and in 2012 took part in the conversation book Cypherpunks alongside Julian Assange.
