Anduril

Hardware På svenska → Updated: 2026-10-22

The defence company Oculus founder Palmer Luckey started to build weapons the way Silicon Valley builds software.

Luckey founded Anduril in 2017, the year he left Facebook, together with Trae Stephens of Peter Thiel's Founders Fund and several former Palantir employees, among others. The name is Aragorn's sword from The Lord of the Rings — Tolkien apparently being required reading for defence companies in Thiel's orbit.

At its core is Lattice, a software platform that fuses sensor data from towers, drones and vessels into a shared picture and lets autonomous systems act on it. On top sits in-house hardware: surveillance towers on the US–Mexico border, drones, interceptors and uncrewed combat aircraft. The business model is to develop on its own dime and sell finished products, rather than the cost-plus contracts the traditional primes live on.
