ACiD Productions
The most influential ANSI art group, founded in 1990 and known for its monthly art packs.
ACiD – ANSI Creators in Demand – formed in the US in 1990 and turned BBS graphics into an organised art form. The group shipped art packs on a regular schedule: zip files of ANSI pictures, logos and login screens commissioned by sysops, passed from board to board. Rivalry with iCE and other groups pushed both technique and ambition upward.
ACiD also wrote its own tools, including the ACiDDraw editor and the ACiDView viewer. As BBSes faded around the turn of the millennium, releases slowed, but the archive survives and makes up a large share of what 16colo.rs shows today.
